Morzine simply has so much to offer in the summer season … and there's something for everyone - from relaxing days by the lake to action packed adventures on the mountain ... amazing day trips are just a short drive away too - from a round of golf in Evian to taking the Aiguille du Midi cable car in Chamonix or exploring the markets of Thonon to taking a dip in Lake Annecy ... it's easier to list the things you can't do in the summer months!
Summer stays at Chilly Powder have been making headlines again this year too, with a roundup of some of our the summer holiday reviews by the UK media below; helping give you a taste of what your next holiday with Chilly Powder could have in store ...
Northeast Lifestyle Magazine Editor Elaine Wilson writes "The Alps are great for skiing holidays, but did you know about the things there are to do there in the summertime? The summer season in the Alps is short - from the end of June until September, but there are lots of activities on offer. Probably the most popular and prettiest resort in the Alps in the summer is Morzine .."
Taking advantage of the Multipass she explains, "Morzine is mountainous, and the universal lift pass is a necessity for getting around. The multi-pass gets you entry to the cable car network and most of the chairlifts too. It costs about two Euros a day. The pass also allows you access to activities at the Palais De Sports down by the riverside. There is an Olympic size swimming pool, tennis courts, an ice rink (the national team here are the Morzine Penguins), crazy golf and a toboggan run."
With unlimited access to more than 70 activities in the 12 resorts of the Portes du Soleil resorts from 18 May to 5 November 2023, discover more about the Multipass here.
Rosalind Moody from Soul and Spirit Magazine spent a week with us last summer, as she wrote a triple page article explaining, "In the heart of nature, Morzine is home to the Nature & Plants fair in July and truly represents all the values of bien être. Being 1000m above sea level meant no day was too hot for activities (although I certainly felt the cold while becoming iceman Wim Hof in the freezing cold waterfall pools up at the Cascade de Nyon) ... My favourite day occurred up on the Point De Nyon and lookout point Pas D’Aigle, when I was hit with a 360 view that stretched for miles and miles, with Lac Leman in Geneva shining on the north side and snow-tipped Mont Blanc looking south. Totally on a high from the view in front of me, the beauty of the land in the summer sun rendered even me speechless." - with the full story published in their spring issue.
"Friendly Chilly Powder provides perfect base for bikers and hikers to explore picturesque Morzine in summer" reads the headline as Callum Main from The Press and Journal in Aberdeen writes, "The French Alps have an incredible reputation as a winter ski destination – and it’s deserved. But for a short period in the summer, the area around Morzine-Avoriaz is transformed into the perfect summer getaway.
“In 2022, Morzine was host to one of the stages of the Tour de France; the week after we left, a massive mountain bike event was held in the area, so it’s no surprise really this place is dominated by those who love life on two wheels during the summer … But for those who prefer to remain on their feet, the chairlifts and surrounding hills and forest provide the perfect environment for hiking. Heading up on a series of lifts takes you to the iconic Eagle Pass, a suspended glass viewing platform at the top of one of the highest peaks in the area with stunning views across towards Mount Blanc.”

Jade Braham from Luxury Lifestyle Magazine writes, "There are two scenes that you’ll be presented with upon arrival in Morzine: one a steep-sided valley with rock formations that look set to kill, and the other a quaint village painted with traditional Haute-Savoie chalets sporting an abundance of flowers. The contrasting landscapes shouldn’t work together, but it makes Morzine seem untouchable – like a snow globe, but where pastures are always green, the sky is dazzling, and meadows will never lose their grazing cows.
"Of course, the snow clouds come and turn this community into the epicentre for skiing in the Portes du Soleil area. But during the summer months, Morzine is where life slows down. Wake to the sound of chirping birds; walk meandering roads where llamas, goats and chickens make an appearance; and immerse yourself with nature-intensive activities like lakeside walks or waterfalls swims ... Sounds delightful, right? Well, here’s how to make your holiday in the mountains happen..."
